President’s Letter to foreign alumni and friends

An official document launching French-Polish exchange (Convention) between IN2P3 and Polish Institutes was signed in 1974. On September 15, 2006, a new Agreement was signed between IN2P3 and Consortium COPIN of 9 Polish Institutes. Over many years of very fruitful co-operation, the exchange up to 700 days/year has been fairly equilibrated. It has provided beyond 1000 peered review articles, with excellent results both in nuclear and particle physics, and applied physics. Many conference talks, participation in several conferences and workshops in Poland and France, numerous PhD theses with 7, so called, thèses co-tutelles. Some experimental instrumentation has been constructed in Poland for common use up today, e.g. Recoil Filter Detector, and partialy ICARE, charged particle/ion detector (presently at SLCJ UW). Polish physicists are looking forward to common future experiments with radioactive ion beams at SPIRAL2 and experiments at LHC and LHCb with ATLAS and ALICE.

An extended article in English and publications can be found in web http://copin.ifj.edu.pl and in Annales UMCS, sectio AAA, vol. LXVI p. 171-197 (2011).
